What does diabetes mean for my health?

Diabetes affects your entire body. Diabetes increases your risk of:


  • Heart disease and stroke


  • Eye diseases such as retinopathy which are damaged blood vessels in light-seeing tissue at the back of the eye, cataracts and glaucoma


  • Kidney disease


  • Foot ulcers and foot amputation


  • Loss of leg and arm sensation.
