Why is a healthy diet so important for me?
Dietary fibre
Dietary fibre is a type of carbohydrate that cannot be broken down by your digestive enzymes. Plant foods are high in fibre and include vegetables, fruits, nuts, legumes and whole grains.
Experts recommend that you should eat 30 grams of fibre a day. A high dietary fibre intake lowers your risk of diabetes and keeps your bowel movements regular. You will also feel fuller throughout the day which helps you lose weight.
You can find out your daily fibre intake using the Smart Fibre Checker.
